HAT was formed as part of the regeneration of Hanwell project. We promote and support local businesses though joining together and lobbying the council and other decision makers to act in the interests of local traders.

Over the last year we have successfully lobbied for:

  • Grants from the council for trader shop fronts of up to 90%
  • New stop and shop bays and loading bays
  • Free licenses for pavement ‘A boards’
  • Free consultations on visual merchandising and free training
  • New lampposts
  • New paving for Hanwell Town centre

The London Borough of Ealing views the Hanwell Traders Association as an integral part of the town centre regeneration programme and often seeks out the traders to act as a sounding board for new projects, occasionally co-ordinating with traders to help deliver schemes including installing planters and hanging baskets, for example.

The borough also works closely with HAT to provide business advice for assisting traders, to support new traders starting out in Hanwell and to work together to find businesses to mive into vacant shops.

Hanwell Association of Traders now acts as an effective struction for communication between the Borough and the business community.

There is now a strong organisation in the town centre able to work together on projects and tackle issues as they arise.

LB Ealing is now working with Hanwell Association of Traders to help establish trader groups across the Borough.

Hanwell Association of Traders and London Borough of Ealing have together organised craft markets, Christmas events, and a 'clean Hanwell day'.
